The Great Rebuilding

fear not God can be trusted.

Thank you for your prayers.

Judging from a number of things (mostly unsubscribes)
I am guessing some of you are wondering why I am taking this time
to teach on the Apostles' Creed.

God is about to usher in a Great Rebuilding,
and we need to rebuild our spiritual foundation.

In the 1970's and 80's there were a number of prophetic voices
who saw the direction Western Civilization was going.
They knew that a shipwreck was on the horizon,
and they talked about it.
Francis Schaeffer,
Chuck Colson,
and Hans Van Rookmaaker 
all described the day we are living in.
George Orwell did too, but he was not a Christian,
and he saw no hope in the future.
There is a lot of hope for the future.

God called me to this work 16 years ago,
and He was preparing me for that call for almost 20 before that:
raise up an army of artists who will build Jesus a throne in the earth.
And when God did, 
he said a few important things--
come out of the church system
come out of the "ministry" system
and come out of the commercial system.

Raising up is not what I expected.
It isn't recruitment.
And it has not been easy.
People deeply committed to those systems I mentioned 
have become some of my worst enemies.
At the same time, our quiet little revolution continues to grow.
This thing has become much bigger than I thought it ever would.

God is calling you to rebuild and reform culture.
Some of you think God wants you to sell things on Etsy,
do email marketing,
or get a following on social media.
All of those systems are gamed against you,
just like gambling in a casino.
The big FB, and the big spy Goo don't care about you,
and they are happy to crush you if it will help their stock.
(And Tick-tock is run by the same people 
who are running the largest concentration camp in history.)
They are not your friends and platforms are not neutral.

Most of the Christian Artists I know 
do not really know their Bibles.
They do not know the basics of the faith.
They do not know the richness of the artistic 
and cultural tradition
they have inherited.

And so I am teaching the basics.

When I'm done with the creed,
I am moving on to some basic understanding of art and symbol.
You need to have a deep foundation,
because we are going to be 
rebuilding broken institutions,
broken communities,
and broken culture
for the foreseeable future, together.

You are called to bring the new solution,
the stories,
and the reality of heaven
into a broken planet.

On earth as it is in heaven 
is more practical than you thought.
