seated at the right hand
fear not God can be trusted
Thank you for your prayers. In John 21 there is a very funny detail. After the resurrection, Jesus repeats the miracle of the huge catch of fishes that happened at the beginning of his ministry. Only this time, We are told how many fish they caught: 153. To the Jewish mind, and by extension, the Bible, numbers are almost a language unto themselves. When you multiply seventeen by nine, you get 153. Nine is the number for finality. At the ninth hour Jesus said, "it is finished." Seventeen is the number for complete and total victory: like the Exodus and the Resurrection. Both those events happened on the 17th day of the month. Those fish were a sign that Jesus was VICTORIOUS--full stop. Jesus didn't ascend into heaven and vanish. He sat down--that means the work is finished. And he sat down at the right hand of his Father. He rested from the work of redemption, and he is the heir apparent. He extends the rule and reign of the Father. Psalm 110:1 is the most quoted verse in the New Testament and it says "My LORD says to my Lord, sit at my right hand until I make your enemies a footstool for your feet." Jesus Christ is seated at the right hand of God, and he is praying for you. His plan for your life is to make his complete total finished victory a victory for you in your life. In Christ, every believer is seated with him and he is in us. And we are commissioned to carry on this work, from the right hand place of favor. We are called to make earth look like heaven, and for Belonging House that is a literal commission. We are called to make this earth a place of beauty completely, totally, finally. Go make 153 beautiful things. ---- And speaking of beautiful things, This week I launched a new book on Kindle Vella. Check it out, the first three episodes are free. He Never Fails, +Christ
