Alleluia, Christ is Risen! I'm a highly creative person. You laugh, but really, I am! And one of the problems with highly creative people is our tendency to have six projects going at the same time. Two in front of us, and four in our heads. This isn't ADHD. This is creativity. And I discovered a long time ago that if I put my finger on the end of my nose and say, "FOCUS!" I am able to get back to the important task at hand. The Tuesday prayer group laughed at me once for doing this, and I told them to try it. Now they do it too. In my youth, I was in a theatre company and the most important lesson they taught me was about concentration. If you watch really good actors, they are fixed on their character, the scene, and the dialogue. A good actor will not break character if the scenery falls down, something weird happens in the audience, or someone flubs a line. That's the power of focus. Isaiah 46:3 in the Hebrew reads something like this: God will give the ultimate Shalom to those whose imaginations are focused on the him. The direction of your mind dictates the direction of your soul. And if you are distracted by a thousand cat pictures and every headline in the distraction cycle, you will have no focus. And that makes you the tail and not the head. You will spend all your time responding and reacting, and not leading and directing. If you read this the calling on your life is to lead. Focus determines your direction. That's why I get up every day and read my Bible, pray, and intercede for our community. It's why I repeat the words of the call on my life every day. Focus reminds you of your "why." And if you know your "why," then you know who you are. And it is out of that True identity that you can do anything. So, put your finger on the end of your nose and FOCUS. He Never Fails, Christ P.S. Once a week I send an email to those who commit to praying for me and Belonging House daily. As a community we pray about everything, and do not depend on fundraising and networking. We are needing more prayer support right now. If you would like to join this happy band, let me know. Thanks.
